唐敬宗时，朝廷大兴土木，挥霍无度，杜牧十分气愤，就写一篇《阿房宫赋》，讲述秦朝的阿房宫是十分的繁华，最后被西楚霸王项羽放火烧了三个月才烧完，借古讽今，希望能让当权者吸取秦亡的教训。
