字章民，号蔗畦，宗玮次子，诸生。著有淮南磨盾草、梦蕉吟草。章民为宗玮先生次子，工诗词，与其兄镜云及弟肩吾远模并传承其家学，而诗则以章民为尤工，李小湖先生雅爱重之，尝题其淮南磨盾草云：气短他乡一敝裘，归来城郭但荒邱。增吟欲释淮南感，春草王孙别有愁。淮南磨盾草者，咸丰庚申之乱，粤逆扰苏常，江以北举办团练，晏彤甫星使檄章民办如皋泰兴团练时作也。章民磊落多才，既不遇旋侘傺困顿以卒，人皆惜之。
