元代文学家，生卒年及生平事迹均未详，《录鬼簿》及《录鬼簿续编》皆失载。青城（青城县有二，一在今山东，一在今四川，论者多以为杨朝英是）人。曾任郡守、郎中，后归隐。他最重要的贡献是选录元人散曲，辑为《乐府新编阳春白雪》、《朝野新声太平乐府》二集，人称“杨氏二选”。选辑认真，搜罗甚富，元人散曲多赖以传世，“二选”是研究元代散曲的重要资料。同时他也是一位散曲作家,作品存小令约27首,见于“二选”中。
