陈东(1086～1127年)，字少阳，北宋元祐元年（1086年）出生于一个“自五世以来，以儒嗣其业”的家庭。陈东很早就有声名，洒脱不拘，不肯居于人下，不忧惧自己的贫寒低贱。蔡京、王黼当时用事专权，人们不敢指责，只有陈东无所隐讳忌讳。他参加宴会集会，在座的客人害怕连累自己，都避开他。后来以贡士进入太学。
