李绅（772—846）汉族，亳州（今属安徽）人，生于乌程（今浙江湖州），长于润州无锡（今属江苏）。字公垂。27岁考中进士，补国子助教。与元稹、白居易交游甚密，他一生最闪光的部分在于诗歌，他是在文学史上产生过巨大影响的新乐府运动的参与者。作有《乐府新题》20首，已佚。著有《悯农》诗两首：“锄禾日当午，汗滴禾下土，谁知盘中餐，粒粒皆辛苦。”脍灸人口，妇孺皆知，千古传诵。《全唐诗》存其诗四卷。
