[约公元八五三年至九五七年间在世]字子文，（五代诗话作子美。此从唐才子传）筠州高安人。生卒年均不详，约唐宣宗大中七年至周世宗显德四年间在世，年约九十岁左右。少孤，苦学。应举不策。乾符中，（公元八七七年左右）南游湖、湘，隐云阳山数年。又游岭表，约二十年，始还吴中。与僧虚中、齐己为诗友。时南唐李升镇金陵，旁罗俊逸儒宿。彬应辟，知升欲取杨氏，因献画山水诗云：“须知笔力安排定，不怕山河整顿难”。升大喜，授秘书郎。保大中，以吏部侍郎致仕。归，徙居宜春。时年八十余。李璟以旧恩召见，赐粟帛官其子。彬著有诗集一卷，《唐才子传》传于世。
