王播（759～830）字明敭（同“扬”），太原（今太原）人。贞元（786～805年）中擢进士，举贤良方正异等。长庆初历进中书侍郎同中书门下平章事。太和初拜左仆射，封太原郡公。卒，谥曰敬。工书，尝书唐凤翔尹李晟为国修寺碑。《唐书本传》、《墨池编》、《佩文斋书画谱》
