释大观，字物初，号慈云，俗姓陆，鄞县横溪（今浙江宁波）人。参北涧居简于净慈寺，悟旨，典文翰，声称籍甚。理宗淳祐元年（一二四一）住临安府法相禅院，历住安吉州显慈禅寺、绍兴府象田兴教禅院、庆元府智门禅寺、大慈名山教忠报国禅寺。景定四年（一二六三）入住庆元府阿育王山广利禅寺，卒葬寺西庵。有元德溥等编《物初大观禅师语录》一卷，收入《续藏经》。事见《语录》及《净慈寺志》卷一○《法嗣》。 释大观诗，以辑自《语录》的偈颂及其中单编的诗编为一卷。辑自他书者附于卷末。
