魏初，字太初，号青崖。元代宏州顺圣（今张家口阳原东城）人。生卒年均不详，约元世祖至元初（约公元一二六四年）前后在世，年六十一岁。好读书，尤长于春秋；为文简，而有法。少辟中书省掾吏，亲老告归，隐居教授。中统起，为国史院编修寻擢监察御史，疏陈时政，多见赏纳。官至南台御史中丞。初著有《青崖集》五卷，《四库总目》非独以文章贵，又足补史阙。《元史》有传。
