译文
农民因灾难频繁生活艰苦要向君主申诉，他们不知上天意志，徒然埋怨风不调雨不顺。田里庄稼歉收，虫害又很严重。当朝言路闭塞无处申述，只好来到京城，徘徊在宫阙门外，也无法见到皇帝吐露自己的悲苦。整天在都城里痛哭，泪水都哭干了才回到乡里。但愿我的这首诗能被朝廷采诗之官收集去，当有助于皇帝了解民情，纠正时政之弊端。
注释
人主：古时专指一国之主，即帝王。
草木患、昆虫苦：即庄稼歉收、昆虫为害的情景。
无由：指没有门径和机会。

元结（719～772年），中国唐代文学家。字次山，号漫叟 、聱叟 。河南鲁山人。天宝六载(747)应举落第后，归隐商余山。天宝十二载进士及第。安禄山反，曾率族人避难猗玗洞 （今湖北大冶境内），因号猗玗子。乾元二年(759)，任山南东道节度使史翙幕参谋，招募义兵，抗击史思明叛军，保全十五城。代宗时，任道州刺史，调容州，加封容州都督充本管经略守捉使，政绩颇丰。大历七年(772)入朝，同年卒于长安。
