译文
不在往帝都的路上奔波，却多次往来于山寺以致让山寺讨厌。在有味与无味之间追求生活乐趣，在材与不材之间度过一生。
我宁可保持自我的独立人格，也不趋炎附势猎取功名。走遍人间，过了大半生还是走上了归耕一途。松竹是我的真朋友，花鸟是我的好弟兄。
注释
鹧鸪天：词牌名，又名“思佳客”等，双调五十五字，上、下片各三平韵。
长安路：喻指仕途。长安，借指南宋京城临安。
厌逢迎：往来山寺次数太多，令山寺为之讨厌。此为调侃之语。
鹧鸪天·博山寺作创作背景
辛弃疾长居带湖期间，常往来于博山。其词作中与博山有关的有很多首。这首《鹧鸪天·博山寺作》作于宋孝宗淳熙九年（1182）之后辛弃疾闲居带湖时期。

鹧鸪天·博山寺作鉴赏
这是一首宣泄厌弃官场、决意归隐的词章。按理说四十多岁正是人生建功立业之心最盛，最能奋发作为之时，然而词的开首两句却说：“不向长安路上行，却教山寺厌逢迎。”这两句应题，大意是说，他已经不再心向国都，不再在意天下国家之事了，只流连于博山寺和它周围的山水，使得它都厌于逢迎我了。辛弃疾显然不是果真作如此想的。他不会真的已经忘情于山水游乐，把北复中原的大志抛诸脑后。下边“味无味处求吾乐，材不材间过此生”两句，典出《庄子》，貌似超脱，要安于归隐平淡的生活，自得其乐，做不材之材以终其年。事实上，上片四句是怨辞反说，辛弃疾并非真正能安于闲适平淡的生活，置国家天下于不顾，只是当权者对他始终若即若离，不能真正信任，而主和派又百般猜忌，以致他在几乎二十年的时间里被闲置不用，素志不展。“材不材”，强调的是才。词人文武全才，不论在抗金战场，还是在文苑词坛，都如虎挪狮拏，龙腾象踏，但这样一位高才，却长期被废置闲居，报国无门。在这首词中，他字面上超然闲逸之词，实则包含着对当权者的激愤与积怨，只是不易察觉罢了。
下片表明自己不会改变本性去迁就别人，表现宁学躬耕者不屈其志而得真名的精神。过片起句表明心志：保持完我，不屈附公卿而求取声名。下一句说人生历尽世事，到头来还是要归于田园，躬耕田亩。词人南归以来，一直在地方官的任上转徙不停，一个“却”字，实又流露出对当政者的不满。最后两句“一松一竹真朋友，山鸟山花好弟兄。”辛弃疾意托于松竹花鸟，守君子之志的意向自不待言，其中或许也包含着对仕途人情的戒畏。松竹真朋友，花鸟好弟兄，只有他们不会让辛弃疾伤心失望。篇末承转，说明人世无君子可处，只好与松竹花鸟为友，无奈兼以自我开脱。

辛弃疾（1140－1207），南宋词人。原字坦夫，改字幼安，别号稼轩，汉族，历城（今山东济南）人。出生时，中原已为金兵所占。21岁参加抗金义军，不久归南宋。历任湖北、江西、湖南、福建、浙东安抚使等职。一生力主抗金。曾上《美芹十论》与《九议》，条陈战守之策。其词抒写力图恢复国家统一的爱国热情，倾诉壮志难酬的悲愤，对当时执政者的屈辱求和颇多谴责；也有不少吟咏祖国河山的作品。题材广阔又善化用前人典故入词，风格沉雄豪迈又不乏细腻柔媚之处。由于辛弃疾的抗金主张与当政的主和派政见不合，后被弹劾落职，退隐江西带湖。
