清冷的月光洒向宁静的小屋，梧桐的树影映在屋门口的珍珠帘子上。
秋霜欲下，玉手已经预先感到寒冷。寒灯下，她握着冰冷的剪刀为远方戍守的丈夫缝制着冬衣。
注释
洞房：深屋，位于很多进房子的后边，在古代通常是女眷的居住处。
真珠帘：真珠即珍珠，形容帘子的华贵。
寒闺怨创作背景
唐代的府兵制度规定，兵士自备甲仗、粮食和衣装，存入官库，行军时领取备用。但征戍日久，衣服破损，就要由家中寄去补充更换，特别是需要御寒的冬衣。所以唐诗中常常有秋闺捣练、制衣和寄衣的描写。在白居易的时代，府兵制已破坏，但家人为征夫寄寒衣，仍然是需要的。

寒闺怨鉴赏
此诗前两句写景，后两句写情。其写情，是通过对事物的细致感受来表现的。
洞房，犹言深屋，在很多进房屋的后部，通常是富贵人家女眷所居。居室本已深邃，又被寒冷的月光照射着，所以更见幽静。帘子称之为真珠帘，无非形容其华贵，与上洞房相称，不可呆看。洞房、珠帘，都是通过描写环境以暗示其人的身分。“梧桐影”既与上文“寒月”相映，又暗逗下文“秋霜”，因无月则无影，而到了秋天，树中落叶最早的是梧桐，所谓“一叶落而知夭下秋”。前两句把景写得如此之冷清，人写得如此之幽独，就暗示了题中所谓寒闺之怨。
在这冷清清的月光下，静悄悄的房屋中，一帘子里的人还没有睡，手上拿着剪刀，在裁缝衣服，忽然，她感到剪刀冰凉，连手也觉得冷起来了。随即想起，是秋深了，要下霜了。秋霜欲下，玉手先知。暮秋深夜，赶制寒衣，是这位闺中少妇要寄给远方的征夫的。
天寒岁暮，征夫不归，冬衣未成，秋霜欲下，想到亲人不但难归，而且还要受冻，岂能无怨？于是，剪刀上的寒冷，不但传到了她手上，而且也传到她心上了。丈夫在外的辛苦，自己在家的孤寂，合之欢乐，离之悲痛，酸甜苦辣，一齐涌上心来，是完全可以想得到的，然而诗人却只写到从手上的剪刀之冷而感到天气的变化为止，其余一概不提，让读者自己去想象，去体会。虽似简单，实则丰富，这就是含蓄的妙处。这种对生活的感受是细致入微的。在日常生活中，人们常常对一些事物的变迁，习而不察，但敏感的诗人，却能将它捕捉起来，描写出来，使人感到既平凡又新鲜，这首诗艺术上就有这个特点。

白居易（772年－846年），字乐天，号香山居士，又号醉吟先生，祖籍太原，到其曾祖父时迁居下邽，生于河南新郑。是唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，唐代三大诗人之一。白居易与元稹共同倡导新乐府运动，世称“元白”，与刘禹锡并称“刘白”。白居易的诗歌题材广泛，形式多样，语言平易通俗，有“诗魔”和“诗王”之称。官至翰林学士、左赞善大夫。公元846年，白居易在洛阳逝世，葬于香山。有《白氏长庆集》传世，代表诗作有《长恨歌》、《卖炭翁》、《琵琶行》等。
