译文
远处隐约传来戍鼓的声音，马厩里传来马嘶鸣的叫声。起来看到满地寒霜，一下就想起了出门时与妻子分别的场景，当时也正是这个时节分别的。
如今，我要北上，而我的思念却在南方。我明明知道这是无法改变的事实。人世间的事没有永恒的，但又怎么放得下这种追求永恒的执念呢。
注释
①鹊桥仙：又名《鹊桥仙令》、《金风玉露相逢曲》、《广寒秋》等，双调五十六字，前后阕各两仄韵，一韵到底。前后阕首两句要求对仗。
②沉沉：形容声音悠远隐约。萧萧：形容马叫声。霜华：即霜，亦作“霜花”。
③伊：她。邮亭：驿馆。
④北征：北行。南征：南行。调停无计：没有办法安排处理。
⑤除却：除去。

鹊桥仙·沉沉戍鼓创作背景
这首词作于1906年2月王国维北上途中。当时王国维厌倦了客中的生涯。十年来，江北江南，行踪无定，王国维感到，眼前的一切都是不实在的，自己找不到一个可以安身立命的地方。

鹊桥仙·沉沉戍鼓鉴赏
这首词的上片，写GREn/ target=_blank class=infotextkey>征人在驿馆中听到远处传来的戍鼓声和厩内马鸣，起来看到满地寒霜，突起思乡之念，想起了出门时和妻子分别时也正是这样一个寒冷的夜晚。“猛然记得别伊时，正今日邮亭天气”似从韦庄《女冠子》的“正是去年今日，别君时”化来，当然也是写爱情的。“戍鼓”和“厩马”联想到长途劳顿，“霜”的肃杀之气和“满地”的无所遁形有一种不安的感觉。
如果说上片是以感发的意象取胜的话，那么下片就走向理性的思索。不过王国维能够做到在理性思索之中仍不失感发的力量。
“北征车彻，南征归梦”是说，我的人在向北方走，我的心却在向南方走，因为我所思念的那个伊留在南方。相反的方向，“车辙”和“归梦”是现实与愿望的反差。所以这两句所表现的，是一种理智与感情、现实与愿望的矛盾，而这种矛盾是难以解决的。“调停无计”已经是无可奈何，“知是”更有一种清醒的疼痛。作者悲欢的加上一句“但除却无凭两字”，无凭就是人生的绝对真理，在这个世界上没有永恒的东西，只有“无凭”这个概念是永恒的。作者想以“人间事事不堪凭，但除却无凭二字”的语态来表达空空的境界。
