沉沉更鼓急，渐渐人声绝。
十二月十五夜译文及注释
译文
闷声的更鼓从远处一阵紧一阵地传来，忙碌的人们陆续入睡，市井的吵闹声慢慢平息下来，我也吹灭油灯准备入睡，但灯灭后却发现房间更亮了，原来因为夜空正高悬明月，大地又撒满白雪，明亮的圆月与白雪交相映照在窗上，使房间显得比吹灯前还要明亮。
注释
沉沉：指从远处传来的断断续续的声音。更鼓：旧时一夜分成五更，每更大约两小时，晚上派专人巡夜，打鼓报道时刻，叫做“打更”，打更用的鼓叫“更鼓”。
绝：这里是消失的意思。
后两句是说：把灯吹灭后，因为窗外有月亮，又有雪光映射，所以窗子里面反而显得更加明亮了。

袁枚（1716－1797）清代诗人、散文家。字子才，号简斋，晚年自号仓山居士、随园主人、随园老人。汉族，钱塘（今浙江杭州）人。乾隆四年进士，历任溧水、江宁等县知县，有政绩，四十岁即告归。在江宁小仓山下筑筑随园，吟咏其中。广收诗弟子，女弟子尤众。袁枚是乾嘉时期代表诗人之一，与赵翼、蒋士铨合称“乾隆三大家”。
