有妇人昼日置小儿沙上而浣衣于水者。虎自山上驰来，妇人仓皇沉水避之。二小儿戏沙上自若。虎熟视久之，至以首抵触，庶几其一就惧；而儿痴，竟不知。虎亦寻卒去。噫，虎之食人，先被之以威，而不惧之人，威亦无所施欤！
小儿不畏虎译文及注释
译文
有个妇人白天将两个小孩安置在沙滩上，而自己去河边洗衣服。老虎从山上跑了下来，妇人慌忙地潜入水里来躲避老虎，两个小孩还是像刚才一样在沙滩上玩耍。老虎仔细地盯着他们看了很久，甚至用头来触碰他们，希望让其中一个能够感到害怕，可是小孩很天真，最终还是不知道害怕，最后，老虎终于离开了。估计老虎吃人，先要对人施加威风来吓唬人；可是（对于）不害怕的人，它的威风也就没有施展的地方！

浣衣：洗衣服。
自若：神情不紧张。
庶几：差不多，有那么一点。在这里是“希望”的意思。
意虎之食人 意：估计。
虎熟视久之 熟: 仔细。
至以首抵触 首: 头。
虎亦寻卒去 卒: 最终。寻：副词，随即，不久。去：离开
仓皇：匆忙而慌张。
惧：害怕 。
被：施加，给......加上。
意：估计，推断。
置：安放。
驰：向往。这里指：老虎从山上（往沙滩）跑下来。
避：躲避
痴：此指无知识。
昼日：白天

苏轼（1037－1101），北宋文学家、书画家、美食家。字子瞻，号东坡居士。汉族，四川人，葬于颍昌（今河南省平顶山市郏县）。一生仕途坎坷，学识渊博，天资极高，诗文书画皆精。其文汪洋恣肆，明白畅达，与欧阳修并称欧苏，为“唐宋八大家”之一；诗清新豪健，善用夸张、比喻，艺术表现独具风格，与黄庭坚并称苏黄；词开豪放一派，对后世有巨大影响，与辛弃疾并称苏辛；书法擅长行书、楷书，能自创新意，用笔丰腴跌宕，有天真烂漫之趣，与黄庭坚、米芾、蔡襄并称宋四家；画学文同，论画主张神似，提倡“士人画”。著有《苏东坡全集》和《东坡乐府》等。
