译文
孟孙氏打猎得到一只幼鹿，派秦西巴拿回去烧煮它。母鹿跟随着秦西巴并啼叫。秦西巴不忍心，（将幼鹿）放还给母鹿。孟孙氏回来后，寻找鹿在哪里。秦西巴回答说：“小鹿的妈妈跟在后面啼叫，我实在不忍心，私自放还给母鹿。”孟孙氏很生气，把秦西巴赶走了。过了一年，又采用他把他作为儿子的老师。左右大臣和侍卫说：“秦西巴对您有罪，现在却把他作为您儿子的老师，为什么？”孟孙氏说：“(他)对一只小鹿都不忍心伤害，又何况对人呢？
