（梁鸿）家贫而尚节，博览无不通。而不为章句。学毕，乃牧豕于上林苑中，曾误遗火，延及他舍。鸿乃寻访烧者，问所去失，悉以豕偿之。其主犹以为少。鸿曰：“无他财，愿以身居作。”主人许之。因为执勤，不懈朝夕。邻家耆老见鸿非恒人，乃共责让主人，而称鸿长者。于是，始敬鸿，悉还其豕。鸿不受而去。

梁鸿尚节译文及注释
译文
梁鸿虽然家庭贫困，然而他推崇礼节，广泛阅读（书本），没有不通晓的（事情）。并且他不死记硬背章句。读完书，就到上林苑放猪，曾经不小心留下火种，蔓延到别人的房屋。梁鸿就寻访被烧到的人家，问他损失的财物，用自己全部的猪作赔偿还给房屋主人。但房屋主人还认为得到的补偿很少，梁鸿说：“我没有别的财富，愿意让自己留下做事。”主人同意了。（梁鸿）于是勤奋做工，从早到晚从不松懈。邻家老人们见梁鸿不是一般人，于是就一同责备批评那家主人，并且称赞梁鸿是忠厚的人。因此，（主人）开始敬佩梁鸿，把猪还给他，梁鸿没有接受，返回自己的家乡 。

范晔（公元398年—公元445年），字蔚宗，南朝宋史学家，顺阳（今河南淅川南）人。官至左卫将军，太子詹事。宋文帝元嘉九年（432年），范晔因为“左迁宣城太守，不得志，乃删众家《后汉书》为一家之作”，开始撰写《后汉书》，至元嘉二十二年（445年）以谋反罪被杀止，写成了十纪，八十列传。原计划作的十志，未及完成。今本《后汉书》中的八志三十卷，是南朝梁刘昭从司马彪的《续汉书》中抽出来补进去的。其中《杨震暮夜却金》已编入小学教材，《强项令》选入中学教材。
