月缺花残莫怆然，花须终发月终圆。

和友人伤歌姬鉴赏
作者友人歌姬去世，此诗为劝慰友人而作。首句谓月缺花残乃人间既不可避免又常有之事，不必过度伤心，次句是宽慰友人之语。三句谓自己能理解友人，诚无他事可阻止友人伤悼歌姬之念，然而落花随川流东去亦是常有之事，不独歌姬独亡。五六句赞美歌姬，谓便是墓草也应嫉妒其婉转之歌声和婵娟之美色，同时也表达了飞卿对歌姬“委逝川”的同情和怜惜。末二句谓友人当节哀，自古多情之人哀伤过度，除自损外，对亡人实无益处，况且亡人于九泉之下亦未必愿意看到未亡人因过分哀伤而自损的结果。全诗以劝慰为主，其间穿插对歌姬的赞美与同情是为了把自己与友人划为同类，使友人觉得飞卿亦真为佳人“委逝川”而悲痛。众所周知，同病之人往往可以互怜，同病之人互相劝慰的言语往往也比局外人的话更能触动人心，飞卿如此写，大概有此目的。

温庭筠（约812—866）唐代诗人、词人。本名岐，字飞卿，太原祁（今山西祁县东南）人。富有天才，文思敏捷，每入试，押官韵，八叉手而成八韵，所以也有“温八叉”之称。然恃才不羁，又好讥刺权贵，多犯忌讳，取憎于时，故屡举进士不第，长被贬抑，终生不得志。官终国子助教。精通音律。工诗，与李商隐齐名，时称“温李”。其诗辞藻华丽，秾艳精致，内容多写闺情。其词艺术成就在晚唐诸词人之上，为“花间派”首要词人，对词的发展影响较大。在词史上，与韦庄齐名，并称“温韦”。存词七十余首。后人辑有《温飞卿集》及《金奁集》。
