某恶鼠，破家求良猫。厌以腥膏，眠以毡罽。猫既饱且安，率不食鼠，甚者与鼠游戏，鼠以故益暴。某恐，遂不复蓄猫，以为天下无良猫也。是无猫邪，是不会蓄猫也。
世无良猫译文及注释
译文
有个人憎恨老鼠，倾尽所有的家财讨得一只好猫。用鱼肉喂养，用棉垫、毯子给猫睡。猫已经吃得饱饱的并且过得安安稳稳，大都不捕鼠了，有时猫甚至与老鼠一块嬉戏，老鼠因此更加凶暴。这人十分生气，把它赶走，于是再也不在家里养猫了，认为这个世界上没有好猫。

厌：满足。

腥膏：鱼和肥肉。腥：代指鲜鱼。膏：肥肉。
罽：（jì）（罽蒘）古书上说的一种植物，似芹，可食，子大如麦粒。俗称“鬼麦”。毡罽：毡子和毯子。
且：并且。
率：大都。
故：缘故。
益：更加。
暴：凶暴。横行不法。
遂：于是；就。
逐：驱逐，赶走。
蓄：养。
以为：认为。

乐钧（1766-1814，一说1816卒），原名宫谱，字效堂，一字元淑，号莲裳，别号梦花楼主。江西抚州府临川长宁高坪村（今属金溪县陈坊积乡高坪村）人。清代著名文学家。从小聪敏好学，秀气孤秉，喜作骈体文，利文20卷。弱冠补博士弟子。乾隆五十四年（1789）由学使翁方纲拔贡荐入国子监，聘为怡亲王府教席。嘉庆六年（1801）乡试中举，怡亲王欲留，乐钧以母老辞归。后屡试不弟，未入仕途，先后游历于江淮、楚、粤之间，江南大吏争相延聘，曾主扬州梅花书院讲席。嘉庆十九年，因母去世过分伤心，不久亦卒。
