晋平公与群臣饮，饮酣，乃喟然叹曰：“莫乐为人君！惟其言而莫之违。”师旷侍坐于前，援琴撞之。公被衽而避，琴坏于壁。公曰：“太师谁撞？”师旷曰：“今者有小人言于侧者，故撞之。”公曰：“寡人也。”师旷曰：“哑！是非君人者之言也。”左右请除之。公曰：“释之，以为寡人戒。”
师旷撞晋平公译文及注释
译文
晋平公和臣子们在一起喝酒。酒喝的正高兴时，他就得意地说：“没有谁比做国君更快乐的了！只有他的话没有谁敢违背！”师旷正在旁边陪坐，听了这话，便拿起琴朝他撞去。晋平公连忙收起衣襟躲让。琴在墙壁上撞坏了。晋平公说：“乐师， 您撞谁呀?”师旷故意答道：“刚才有个小人在胡说八道，因此我气得要撞他。”晋平公说：“说话的是我呀。”师旷说：“哎！这不是为人君主的人应说的话啊！”左右臣子认为师旷犯上，都要求惩办他。晋平公说：“放了他吧，我要把这件事（或“师旷讲的话”）当作一个警告。”

莫乐为人君——没有比做人君再快乐的了。
莫之违——没有人敢违背他
师旷——名旷，字子野，是春秋后期晋国宫廷中的盲乐师。
师旷侍坐于前——师旷陪坐在前面
援——执持，拿。
衽——衣襟、长袍。
太师——师旷。谁撞，即撞谁。
言于侧——于侧言。
哑——表示不以为然的惊叹声。
除——清除，去掉。除之：除掉他
故——所以
被——通“披”，披着。
师旷——盲人乐师。
是非君人者——这不是国君

韩非子生于周赧王三十五年（约公元前281年），卒于秦王政十四年（公元前233年），韩非为韩国公子（即国君之子），汉族，战国末期韩国人(今河南省新郑）。师从荀子，是中国古代著名的哲学家、思想家，政论家和散文家，法家思想的集大成者，后世称“韩子”或“韩非子”，中国古代著名法家思想的代表人物。
