译文
西岳高耸似一位德高望重的老人，群峰在其周围则像他的儿孙。
怎么才能求得仙人杖，拄着它登上华山去玉女祠呢？
可进了车箱谷就难以回归了，而山峰像通天的箭尾直抵天门，难以登爬。
稍稍等待天气转凉后，登上山顶去，看山本貌。
注释
崚嶒：高耸突兀。
九节杖：《刘根外传》：“汉武登少室，见一女子以九节杖仰指日，闭左目，东方朔曰：‘此食日精者。’”《真诰》：“杨羲梦蓬莱仙翁，拄赤九节杖而视白龙。”
玉女洗头盆：《集仙录》：“明星玉女，居华山，服玉浆，白日升天，祠前有五石白，号玉女洗头盆。其水碧绿澄彻，雨不加溢，旱不减耗。祠有玉女马一匹。”
车箱入谷：《太平寰宇记》：“车箱谷，一名车水涡，在华阴县西南二十五里，深不可测。祈雨者以石投之，中有一鸟飞出，应时获雨。”
箭栝：箭的末端。
白帝：中国古代神话中的五天帝之一，古代指西方之神。

望岳三首·其二鉴赏
咏华山一首，作者所写的华山亦同样雄伟。不过，与年青时代一首相比，这无疑是一首失意之作。自天宝乱来，作者饱历忧患方得重返朝廷，而今因宰相房琯败绩丧师于陈涛斜被罚，抗疏救之而获罪被贬。作者人至中年，除了官拜左拾遗一年境遇较佳，一直极备艰辛。因此，诗中亦有流露出失意徬徨之感。作者发端“西岳崚嶒竦处尊，诸峰罗立似儿孙”即写华山崇高。作者虽然极欲登山，但“安得仙人九节杖”一句“安得”二字诘问，已表明了作者之愿难以实现。这好比作者欲要报国，却总是报国无门，无可奈何的心情。“车箱入谷无归路，箭栝通天有一门”两句写作者仰望之余，预计攀登之路。不过这始终并未实行，只是作者在望岳时的盘算，藉以自我安慰而已。情况一如作者纵有一腔抱负理想，却只能空自盘算，无法行之于世。最后，本诗以“稍待西风凉冷后，高寻白帝问真源。”作结，作者宦途的坎坷更是可见。现实环境的不顺，使得作者产生了厌倦宦途之情，期望于热闹中寻得凉冷以自疗创痛。以华山之顶比白帝之居，更表现了作者自感理想无可实现的失意徬徨。

杜甫（712－770），字子美，自号少陵野老，世称“杜工部”、“杜少陵”等，汉族，河南府巩县（今河南省巩义市）人，唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，杜甫被世人尊为“诗圣”，其诗被称为“诗史”。杜甫与李白合称“李杜”，为了跟另外两位诗人李商隐与杜牧即“小李杜”区别开来，杜甫与李白又合称“大李杜”。他忧国忧民，人格高尚，他的约1400余首诗被保留了下来，诗艺精湛，在中国古典诗歌中备受推崇，影响深远。759-766年间曾居成都，后世有杜甫草堂纪念。
