译文
佳人寄来书信，撰写的词章抒写了她深厚的情意，价值之高贵，一字值千金。我一会儿展览观赏，一会儿冥思哀吟，心中悲喜交织，泪痕满襟。
过去幽会的欢乐已经消失，未来相逢的日子遥远难测。而今无以依赖，多多凭借南来北往、候时去来的大雁寄佳音，恐怕冷落了昔日的爱情。
注释
燕归梁：词牌名，《乐章集》注“正平调”。双调五十字，前段四句四平韵，后段四句三平韵。
织锦：指锦书。后称妻子寄给丈夫的书信为锦书。裁篇：一作“裁编”，指构思。写意：表露心意。
字值千金：《史记·吕不韦传》：““布咸阳市门，悬千金其上，延诸侯游士宾客有能增损一字者予千金。”此谓情人来信之珍贵。
披玩：即把玩，仔细玩味。
肠成结：谓心中忧思郁结不解。肠，心肠，心中。
前期：将来重聚的日子。
无憀（liáo）赖：即“无聊”，郁闷，精神空虚。憀，通“聊”。
而今：如今。
密凭：频频托付。

此词开头即用织锦回文诗的典故，可见此词乃柳永思念妻子之作。联系到柳词其他的思妻之作的创作时间，此词应作于柳永第一次游历江浙一年后。

燕归梁·织锦裁篇写意深鉴赏
这首词叙写的是以书信传达别后相思相忆之情。词上片以织锦回文诗为始，但所叙写不是写诗者，而是读诗者—也就是词人本人。他从构思精妙的来信体会到其中的深情蜜意。“字值千金”一句极写这信在词人内心所占据的分量，正因为如此，所以词人才会“一回披玩一愁吟。肠成结、泪盈襟”，前一句活画出其喜悦之情，后一句又为其喜极生悲写真。
下片是相思之情的延伸。“幽欢已散前期远”，幽欢早已成往事，重聚却又遥遥无期。“无憀赖”一句写词人满怀情意却无所寄托。“密凭”一句写词人频频寄出述说爱情的书信。结拍“恐冷落、旧时心”，表明述说相思不仅是自己情感的需要，更是安慰对方，以免冷落了她旧日的一片深情。这六个字，语势平淡，却情深意浓。
这是一首以“赋”的手法写成的令词，没有比兴，没有场景，没有波澜，全用概括性的叙述语，失之平直、浅淡，缺少动人心魄的艺术感染力。只结尾一句，尚有新意，尚有余韵。

柳永，（约987年—约1053年）北宋著名词人，婉约派代表人物。汉族，崇安（今福建武夷山）人，原名三变，字景庄，后改名永，字耆卿，排行第七，又称柳七。宋仁宗朝进士，官至屯田员外郎，故世称柳屯田。他自称“奉旨填词柳三变”，以毕生精力作词，并以“白衣卿相”自诩。其词多描绘城市风光和歌妓生活，尤长于抒写羁旅行役之情，创作慢词独多。铺叙刻画，情景交融，语言通俗，音律谐婉，在当时流传极其广泛，人称“凡有井水饮处，皆能歌柳词”，婉约派最具代表性的人物之一，对宋词的发展有重大影响，代表作 《雨霖铃》《八声甘州》。
