译文
灯花预报的吉兆再一次毫无应验，喜鹊传来的归信不过如清风吹过耳边。绣被儿温暖却少一个人做伴。他此刻远在万水千山之外，使我犹如这暮春一样凋残。好不容易刚能在梦里团圆，醒来却发现是一场空欢，只听得墙东杜鹃在声声啼唤。

灯花占信：古人以灯花为吉兆。
鹊报佳音：《西京杂记》：“乾鹊噪而行人至。”
不付能：刚刚能。
觉来时：醒来时。
杜鹃声：杜鹃啼声如“不如归去”。
水仙子·灯花占信又无功鉴赏
油灯芯爆结成花形，喜鹊在窗外啼叫，这一切只有闺中的有心人才会注意到，并将它们作为占卜的吉兆。然而，“又无功”说明带来的失望远不止一次，“耳过风”也说明一回回“佳音”的靠不住。三、四、五三句，补明了闺中人占信卜兆的缘由，是丈夫远出，独守空闺，“因此上惨绿愁红”。“惨绿愁红”本是暮春的大自然景象，曲中用来代替人物心境，颇为新警。结尾三句以好梦惊残、愁听鹃声的特写，坐实了她对丈夫的思念与独居的悲伤。全曲皆以思妇的口吻表出，似断似续，忽东忽西，如闻喁喁泣诉，十分动人。
这首小令写思妇的闺怨，多用婉曲之笔代替平直的陈述，如以灯花占信无功、鹊报佳音成空，表现良人久出不归，以“惨绿愁红”代表内心的凋残悲伤，以“杜鹃声啼过墙东”，暗示思妇对行人“不如归”的期盼，等等。施展这类的小巧是散曲的擅长，而在闺情、闺怨题材中，恰可起到使情致更为绵邈婉曲的增饰作用。

元代文学家，生卒年及生平事迹均未详，《录鬼簿》及《录鬼簿续编》皆失载。青城（青城县有二，一在今山东，一在今四川，论者多以为杨朝英是）人。曾任郡守、郎中，后归隐。他最重要的贡献是选录元人散曲，辑为《乐府新编阳春白雪》、《朝野新声太平乐府》二集，人称“杨氏二选”。选辑认真，搜罗甚富，元人散曲多赖以传世，“二选”是研究元代散曲的重要资料。同时他也是一位散曲作家,作品存小令约27首,见于“二选”中。
