译文
西楼上前人的遗迹依然是那样地豪雄，锦锈般华美的笙箫声声缭绕在空中。
当时远行万里并未认真考虑，谁知竟成了久客；一年年飘忽而去，如今楼头又刮起了秋风。
烛光低照着珍珠帘幕，显得特别华美；酒后慢慢泛出醉晕，舞女的双颊更加润红。
迎着秋风转回驿舍，归路越发地可爱；隋将军的摩诃池上，明月正挂在高空。
注释
西楼：指宋代成都转运司园的西楼。曹学佺《蜀中名胜记》卷四《成都府四》：“转运司园，亦称西园。园中有西楼。”
西楼遗迹：西楼为五代时蜀国权臣的故宅。《宋诗纪事》卷二十三章质夫《运司园亭诗》序云：“成都转运司园庭，盖伪蜀时权臣故宅也。清旷幽静，随处皆有可乐者。”尚豪雄：依然很有气派。
锦绣笙箫：指席间有歌妓助兴，有乐器伴唱。锦绣，代指美人。笙箫，指乐器。在半空：夸张地形容歌舞乐曲声传得很远。
因循：轻率，随便。
容易，轻易，草草，不注意。
珠鞴（bèi）：饰有珍珠的衣衫。鞴，单衣。
归路：指宴罢而归。
摩诃（hē）池：池名，故址在今成都市旧县城东南。为隋代萧摩诃所置，故名。一说为隋代蜀王杨秀所筑，其名为胡僧所取。月方中：月亮已升至天空的正中。

宴西楼创作背景
这首七律作于1174年（淳熙元年）诗人以蜀州通判摄理知州期间。这年六月，他在成都西楼宴饮后，有感而作此诗。

宴西楼鉴赏
前四句通过描写当年由蜀入陕路途中的所见所感，回忆自己从军南郑的光荣历史。对仗俱极工稳，描绘有声有色，情景历历如在眼前。后四句表达自己不甘老死乡里的悲愤心情。写得十分凄壮感人。尤其是颈联，将作者对现实社会的强烈的失落感表现得很充分。
“西楼遗迹尚豪雄，锦绣笙萧在半空”。首联紧扣题目，从宴饮的场所——西楼着笔。首句先以“豪雄”二字虚点一笔，次句进一步就此着意渲染：“锦绣笙箫。”描绘其豪华壮美、歌管竞逐，暗藏题内“宴”字；句末缀以“在半空”三字，则西楼耸立天半的形象宛然在目。
“万里因循成久客，一年容易又秋风。”颔联从宴饮现境触发诗人久客无成的感慨。因循，这里有时日蹉跎，一事无成的意思。万里作客，光阴虚度，忽然又到了秋风萧飒的季节。陆游从1170年（乾道六年）入川，到写这首诗时，首尾已达五年，已是“万里”、“久客”了。这一联从表面看，只是抒写留滞异乡的客愁和时序更迭的悲叹，实际上所包蕴的内容要深广得多。陆游怀着报国的雄心壮志，到了南郑前线，但未到一年，就因王炎去职而离幕入川。此后几年，一直无所作为。蹉跎岁月，壮志销磨，这对于像他这样的爱国志士，精神上是最大的折磨。“因循”“容易”“成”“又”，感叹成分很浓。
“烛光低映珠鞴丽，酒晕徐添玉颊红。”颈联折归现境，续写西楼宴饮：烛光低低地映照着穿着盛装的女子，衬托得她们更加俏丽；酒晕渐渐扩散加深，使得她们的玉颊更加红艳。两句意境温馨旖旎。由于有颔联饱含悲慨的抒情在前，这一联所透露的便不是单纯的沉醉享乐，而是透出了无可奈何的悲凉颓放情绪。诗人醉宴西楼，置身衣香鬓影之中，只不过是为了缓和精神的苦闷而已。
“归路迎凉更堪爱，摩诃池上月方中。”宴罢归途，夜凉迎面，摩诃池上，明月方中。宴饮笙歌，驱散了心头的愁云惨雾，对此佳景，更生赏爱之情。至此，诗情振起，以写景作结。

陆游（1125—1210），字务观，号放翁。汉族，越州山阴（今浙江绍兴）人，南宋著名诗人。少时受家庭爱国思想熏陶，高宗时应礼部试，为秦桧所黜。孝宗时赐进士出身。中年入蜀，投身军旅生活，官至宝章阁待制。晚年退居家乡。创作诗歌今存九千多首，内容极为丰富。著有《剑南诗稿》、《渭南文集》、《南唐书》、《老学庵笔记》等。
