译文
水中的小洲上长满了小草，王牧要出去游玩了。
年纪刚刚到了及冠之年，文章的体裁风格与父亲的相同。
场春雨过后山花竞放，争奇斗妍，春水潺流，喷珠溅玉。
王牧的叔父见到他后舍不得他离开，你母亲还在倚门而望，日日盼着你归来呢。
注释
吉州：今江西吉安县。使君：古对州郡长官的尊称。
汀洲：水中小洲。
王孙。本指王家子孙，这里指王牧。
冠带。本指帽子和腰带。这里指及冠之年。古代男子二十岁称冠年。
文体：文章的体裁风格。弓裘：《礼·学记》：“良冶之子必学为裘，良弓之子必学为箕。”后以弓裘比喻子承父业。
小阮：阮籍的侄子阮咸，叔侄二人都在“竹林七贤”之列。这里用以喻王牧叔侄。
倚门愁：谓让父母挂念、担忧。

送王牧往吉州谒王使君叔创作背景
关于王牧这个人的事迹现已难确考。只知道有个王牧曾经担任过考功员外郎，与李嘉祐同时。吉州的王姓刺史有王缜，大历后期在任。这时候李嘉祐在吴越一带闲居。所以这首诗大致是大历后期（774～779年），作者送王牧春日出游时所作。

送王牧往吉州谒王使君叔鉴赏
唐人的送行诗很多。但送行有种种情况，诗的情味也就大不一样。这里是送一个年轻人去探望他的叔父，而他的叔父，又是那里的州官。恰逢时节在初春，正是游历的大好时光。对一个刚成年的人来说，游历可以开阔眼界，增长见闻。因此无论从哪方面说，这都是一件好事。尽管离别免不了引起依惜别之情，但也被替对方高兴的心情掩盖了。这就决定了这首诗的明快基调。
诗的首联点明了GREn/ target=_blank class=infotextkey>送人春日出游的意思。诗人化用了前人的诗句。谢灵运《悲哉行》说：“萋萋春草生，王孙游有情。”王孙是对年轻人的尊称。《史记·淮阴侯列传》记载漂母对韩信说过这样的话：“吾哀王孙而食之，岂望报乎！”王牧恰好姓王，所以用在这里更显恰当。汀洲，说明送别的地点在水边。细草绿，时值早春，小草刚刚发芽。古人常常把春草和离情联系在一起。《古诗十九首》说：“青青河边草，绵绵思远道。”江淹《别赋》说：“春草碧色，春水绿浓，送君南浦，伤如之何！”所以一说“细草绿”，惜别之意也就蕴含其中了。
第二联是对被送者的介绍和赞许。古代男子二十而冠，束发戴帽，表示已经成年了。这正是人生风华正茂、意气风发的时候。不仅如此，王牧承继了家学，擅长诗赋，是个才华横溢的人。“四弓裘”，用的是《礼记·学记》的典：“良冶之子必学为裘，良弓之子必学为箕。”后来便用“弓冶”、“弓裘”比喻父子世袭的事业。这里既是对王牧的赞许，又是对他所要拜见的叔父的称誉。当然，应酬之作中这类词句难免也有溢美之处。
第三联设想王牧旅途中的见闻。“野渡花争发，春塘水乱流。”这两句描写山野春天雨后的景色。一场春雨过后，山花竞放，争奇斗妍；春水潺流，喷珠溅玉。这才是真正的春天，是身居市朝的人们领略不到的春天的真正的美。这两句诗不仅形象地概括了春日山野的美，而且写得生机勃勃，清新流丽。前人评论道：“李袁州（嘉祐）中兴高流，与钱（起）、郎（士元）别为一体，往往涉于齐梁。绮靡婉丽，盖吴均、何逊之敌。如“野渡花争发，春塘水乱流”、“朝霞晴作雨，湿气晚生寒”，文章之冠冕也。”（《唐音癸签》卷七引刘辰翁语）
第四联设想王牧的叔父见到他后，一定十分怜爱，舍不得他离开。所以嘱咐说：你母亲还在倚门而望，日日盼着你归来呢。小阮，阮籍的侄子阮咸，叔侄二人都在“竹林七贤”之列。这里用以喻王牧叔侄。
全诗清丽流畅，气韵生动，是应酬诗中难得的佳作。沈德潜评论此诗云：“天然名秀，当时称其齐梁风格，不虚也。”（《唐诗别裁》卷十一）
