译文
梅花凋谢了，北方边塞的冰雪已经融化，大雁也早早地向北飞去了。我要委托那北归的大雁，请它问候一下故都家乡的父老。
前线地区防务荒疏、边声悄寂，金人占领的淮河以北，人烟稀少。那曾经繁华奢靡的宣和宫殿，已经衰草遍地，尘烟缭绕。
注释
忆秦娥：词牌名。双调，共四十六字，有仄韵、平韵两体。
梅谢了：指梅花凋落。
塞垣（yuán）：指汉代为抵御鲜卑所设的边塞。
鸿（hóng）：即鸿雁，是一种候鸟。秋风起时北雁南飞，春季则自南归北。在诗词中常被当作信使。
凭伊：指凭借大雁
问讯：问候；慰问。
大梁遗（yí）老：即中原父老、北宋遗民。大梁，战国魏都，即北宋时都城汴京。
浙河：即浙江 。
炊烟：指烹制饭菜形成的烟气。
宣和宫殿：借指故国宫殿。宣和，宋徽宗年号。

忆秦娥·梅谢了创作背景
开禧二年（1206年），韩惦胄仓促的北伐失败了。和议之后，南宋朝廷昏庸的皇帝和掌权的投降派大臣立刻就把恢复中原的大业置之脑后。南宋的许多爱国志士们没有忘记失陷的广大国土，日日为国家的前途担忧。心中的忧虑和期望，而作下的这首词。

忆秦娥·梅谢了鉴赏
开头以“梅谢了”三字说明季节正当柳垂金丝的早春。春梅谢去，引起词人一系列的联想。他想起这时中原大地宋、金边界地区，该也在冻解冰融、逐渐转暖了，宋、金自“绍兴和议”之后，两国边境东以淮水，西以大散关为界，所谓的“塞垣”已不是往昔的北地，所以“鸿归早”也暗示着国境线的南移。接下去“鸿归早”三句，要借鸿雁带讯问候故都父老。
下片进一层表达了对故土、故都的深切怀念。南宋偏安江左，浙江西路的镇江一带已经接近前线，北岸的瓜洲渡口是金失南侵的冲要之地。“边声悄”，指这一带平静无战事。“淮河”句，是说淮河一带，本来是人烟稠密、运输繁忙之地，自从靖康之乱、金兵南侵，一路烧杀掳掠，而在这片疮痍满目的土地上，人口稀少，生活艰苦，呈现出残破荒凉的景象，这里就以“炊烟少”三个字以概括之。
末尾两句与上片结句相呼应。前面是说早春北归的鸿雁问候故都遗老，末尾点出故都宫殿（宣和是徽宗年号）那里曾是北宋朝廷所在，当年是何等巍峨宏丽，如今只余下冷烟衰草。遗民凭吊之余，不仅暗伤亡国，恐怕也在切盼着王师能如鸿归一般，早日北上恢复中原，而这也是词人的心愿。
