河水虽浊有清日，乌头虽黑有白时。

潜别离创作背景
白居易年轻时与出身普通人家的姑娘湘灵相爱，但由于门第观念和风尚阻碍，没能正式结婚。分手时，诗人写了“不得哭，潜别离；不得语，暗相思；两心之外无人知……彼此甘心无后期”的沉痛诗句。
潜别离鉴赏
“不得哭，潜别离”泪眼可以延绵，别离却是遥遥无期，此时泪眼是诗人“潜离与暗别”的无奈情怀，是对门第观点的退让。
“不得语，暗相思”相思相念可蔓延，这种思念只有诗人他自己最清楚明了，却无言，却无诉说对象，留给自己唯有相思成灾。
“两心之外无人知”年少无知纯粹无暇，两小无猜情真意切，离别后两颗无人知晓的心是否依旧相知相爱，莫不是有一天相见早已物是人非？
“深笼夜锁独栖鸟，利剑春断连理枝”暗夜如影，吞噬天日，夜锁独栖之鸟，生硬将情爱毒杀，剑斩连理歃血凄然。
“河水虽浊有清日，乌头虽黑有白时”河水再浑浊也有还清日，乌黑的头发终究也有白头之时，苍天有眼是否看清从少年到白头之人情怀，那刻骨铭心的爱恋未改？
“惟有潜离与暗别，彼此甘心无后期”相思无果默然离开，潜离也好，暗别也罢，一转身就是天隔一方，也就永不再相见。

白居易（772年－846年），字乐天，号香山居士，又号醉吟先生，祖籍太原，到其曾祖父时迁居下邽，生于河南新郑。是唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，唐代三大诗人之一。白居易与元稹共同倡导新乐府运动，世称“元白”，与刘禹锡并称“刘白”。白居易的诗歌题材广泛，形式多样，语言平易通俗，有“诗魔”和“诗王”之称。官至翰林学士、左赞善大夫。公元846年，白居易在洛阳逝世，葬于香山。有《白氏长庆集》传世，代表诗作有《长恨歌》、《卖炭翁》、《琵琶行》等。
