灯前一觉江南梦，惆怅起来山月斜。
含山店梦觉作鉴赏
在唐代诗人那里，“回家”与“仕进”是一对永远无法解决的矛盾。对于锐意进取、自视甚高的唐人而言，若是功业无成，宁可“一醉任天涯”，决不轻易还家，必须坚忍地前行。这便有了韦庄将“流离”“别家”当作一种习惯，成为生活常态。与其他诗人相比，韦庄似乎表现得更为洒脱，更加决绝，“等闲挥袂客天涯”，唐人的胸襟、气度与抱负尽出，毫无悲悲切切之感。韦庄的行迹遍及大半个中国，是唐末乱世典型的漂泊者，他的这句诗，最能表现唐代士子气度。
但是乡思功名两不弃，又谁也克服不了谁，自然会让许多诗人不约而同地将这份苦闷转入到梦境，以此寄寓自己现实中的困惑、矛盾和失意之情。韦庄一生又是饱历艰辛，读书时数米而炊，秤薪而爨，加之早尝寇乱，间关顿踬，其漂泊流浪之苦、去乡怀国之痛的体验不可不谓深刻，这些在他的诗作中都表现得淋漓尽致。
孤灯所具有的悲剧意味，透露出诗人的孤独与无奈，而“斜月”意象的加入，使诗人的感伤表露无疑，那是一种凄然的美，仿佛万籁俱寂之夜，只有一盏孤灯，作者企图在黑夜中寻找寄托，然而醒来时却是斜月相迎，此情此景让人愈加惆怅。
羁旅漂泊本是人生常有的际遇，而在离乱的时代更不足为奇。他善于从内在的角度契入，以其深刻的感悟力和独特的艺术表现形式，使这种人之常情显得格外动人。全诗的境界直白而不深隐，其间却处处涌腾着感情的潮流，那淡定，那昂扬，那思念，那怆然，甚至那惆怅迷茫的叹息都发自内心深处，若隐若现，既不激烈，也不哀怨，厚重深挚，令人品味不尽，使人想见风度。夜深人静，好梦搅醒后的诗人，兴尽悲来，他心头袭上的哀感绝不止一己的生命飘泊无着之感，更是人类生命的苍然之悲感。韦庄这种清丽柔婉诗风，属于典型的晚唐格调，于此诗犹见一斑。
