水仙子·寻梅译文及注释
译文
冬前冬后转遍了几个村庄，踏遍了溪南溪北，双脚都沾满了霜，又爬上孤山，在梅树丛中上下寻觅，都未见到梅花的踪迹，寻梅不遇，沮丧地立于山头，忽然一阵寒风吹来，不知从何处带来一阵幽香，蓦然回首，她竟然就在身后，那样淡妆素雅，俏然而立。我顿时如遇梅花仙子一般，惊讶于她的清丽脱俗，沉醉于她的风华绝代。然而春寒使我从醉梦中醒来，听到凄怨的笛声，便想到春天会尽，梅花也会片片凋落，此时淡淡的月色笼罩着黄昏。
注释
双调：宫调名；水仙子：曲牌名；寻梅：曲题。
两履霜：一双鞋沾满了白霜。
孤山：此指杭州西湖之孤山，位处里外二湖之间，又名瀛屿，旧时多梅，是号称“梅妻鹤子”的北宋诗人林逋的隐居处。
缟袂（gǎomèi）：白绢做的衣袖。缟，白色的绢。绡（xiāo）裳：生丝薄绸做的下衣。绡，生丝织成的薄绸。此处言“缟袂绡裳”，是将梅花拟人化，将其比作缟衣素裙的美女，圣洁而飘逸。
“酒醒“句：是说醉卧梅下，因寒气侵袭而惊醒。
淡月昏黄：月色朦胧（空气中浮动着梅花的幽香）。

水仙子·寻梅创作背景
乔吉一生不曾显达，甚至可以说是穷困潦倒，其作品内容也因此而表现出一种消极厌世的情绪和对现实的不满，同时也会表达出自己的心声。这首曲子就是作者这种心理的折射反映。

水仙子·寻梅鉴赏
此曲头三句寻觅梅花的过程，事实上是作者对理想的执着追求过程。“冷风来何处香？忽相逢缟袂绡裳”两句，给人一种“众里寻他千百度”，终达彼岸的愉悦。出人意料的是，作者的情绪却陡然倒转：冷风彻骨，骤然酒醒，凄婉的笛声令人断肠；而朦胧的月色，正把梅花消溶。结尾连用三个典故，进一步描写梅花的神韵，自然带出诗人因理想难于实现的感叹和忧伤。此篇情感起伏回环，情节一波三折，真实地记录了作者复杂的心曲，折射着当时复杂的社会现实。
结合前面的背景分析，这支曲子中的梅花可以理解为作者心目中高洁品性的代名词，这在他另一支散曲《折桂令·荆溪即事》中也可以看出来：
问荆溪溪上人家：为甚人家，不种梅花？老树支门，荒蒲绕岸，苦竹圈笆。寺无僧狐狸样瓦，官无事鸟鼠当衙。白水黄沙，倚遍阑干，数尽啼鸦。
《折桂令·荆溪即事》中，作者讽刺了当时中官僚腐朽，社会风气颓落，致使人民困苦，正义不得伸张的社会现实。感叹家家不种梅花，实则隐射梅花般的高洁品性无人拥有。
所以，《水仙子·寻梅》中的梅花也可以是高尚品格的象征，“寻梅”二字本身即表达了作者对高尚品格的渴望与追求。“冬前冬后”道出了寻梅时间之长，从冬前直找到冬后；“溪南溪北”、“树头树底”写明了寻梅的地域之广，溪水南北，孤山上下，作者都寻了个遍。这两句一方面从时间以及空间的跨度之大来表现作者寻梅之艰，寻梅之勤；另一方面，从侧面亦体现出作者爱梅之切，宁肯溪南溪北、树头树底，从冬前直找到冬后也不肯罢休。爱梅之切，实则是作者在苦苦呼唤人性的高洁和社会的公平；寻梅之艰，体现着这一愿望的实现之难。
从第三句开始，作者笔风一转。头两句虽然表达了寻梅的艰辛，但接下来的两句带来了一些好消息。虽然已是冬后，“冷风”已“来”，本来已经对寻梅不抱希望了，可是不经意间，一阵暗香传来，作者不禁激动地自问，“何处香？”体现出对传来梅香之地的急切寻觅。忽然间，“缟袂绡裳”的“白衣仙女”翩然而至，进入作者的眼帘。苦苦寻觅的梅花在作者的心里就如同神仙一般高洁、神圣，再一次表现出作者的爱梅之深。
可是接下来，作者笔锋一转，本来他已经找到了他苦苦寻觅的梅花，但是，“酒醒”了，之前的喜悦瞬时荡然无存，原来这都是一场梦，现在刺骨的冷风惊醒了美梦。作者心里仿佛响起凄凉的笛声，使得春天的气息也无法令人开心，而是更加使人断肠！“寻梅”只是一场南柯之梦。作者从梦中惊醒，认清了现实，眼前的仅仅是淡淡的泛着月晕的月色，昏黄一片，失望的氛围弥漫开来。全曲到此戛然而止，并未交代最后的结局，留下了深长的余味。

乔吉(1280?～1345) 元代杂剧家、散曲作家。一称乔吉甫，字梦符，号笙鹤翁，又号惺惺道人。太原人，流寓杭州。钟嗣成在《录鬼簿》中说他“美姿容，善词章，以威严自饬，人敬畏之”，又作吊词云：“平生湖海少知音，几曲宫商大用心。百年光景还争甚？空赢得，雪鬓侵，跨仙禽，路绕云深。”从中大略可见他的为人。剧作存目十一，有《杜牧之诗酒扬州梦》、《李太白匹配金钱记》、《玉箫女两世姻缘》三种传世。
