胡沙没马足，朔风裂人肤。老父旧羸病，何以强自扶？
木兰代父去，秣马备戎行。易却纨绮裳，洗却铅粉妆。
驰马赴军幕，慷慨携干将。朝屯雪山下，暮宿青海旁。
夜袭燕支虏，更携于阗羌。将军得胜归，士卒还故乡。
父母见木兰，喜极成悲伤。木兰能承父母颜，却卸巾帼理丝黄。
昔为烈士雄，今复娇子容。
亲戚持酒贺，父母始知生女与男同。
门前旧军都，十年共崎岖。本结兄弟交，死战誓不渝。
今者见木兰，言声虽是颜貌殊。
惊愕不敢前，叹重徒嘻吁。世有臣子心，能如木兰节，忠孝两不渝，千古之名焉可灭！
木兰歌译文及注释
译文
木兰抱着织机的梭子叹着气，究竟是为了谁这么愁苦呢？想要听她说所忧愁的事情，她感激地强颜述说：老父隶属于兵籍，必须服兵役，但是他体力已经逐日衰减，怎么经得起万里征程呢，虽然有儿子但是年纪尚小（不能够替父服役）。北地的风沙足以淹没战马的马蹄，凛冽的北风足以撕裂人的皮肤。老父本来就有病了，身体虚弱，依赖什么来照顾自己呢？
木兰决定替代父亲去服役，喂饱了马后著上戎装踏上行程。换掉了华丽的闺阁衣裳，洗净了铅华的妆饰。纵马赶赴军营，豪壮地提携着宝剑（注：干将是古剑，此处借用为宝剑。）早晨停马在雪山之下，傍晚借宿在青海湖的旁边。夜晚三更突袭了燕地部族的胡虏，抓住了于滇的酋长。（注：此二句为互文）。将军（应是木兰）得胜荣归，士卒返回故乡。
父母看到木兰归家，高兴到了极点反而突然生出悲哀之情。木兰能够承接安慰父母，脱下戎装整理丝簧。昔日是烈士豪雄，如今却变成了娇美的女子的容貌。亲戚们举着酒杯来祝贺木兰的父母，（木兰的父母）到现在才知道生女儿原来同生儿子一样。门前都曾是木兰的旧部士兵，十年来一起出生入死。本来结下了兄弟的情谊，誓死共同战斗终不改变。今天看到木兰，声音虽然相同，但容貌已经改变了。木兰的旧部士兵惊慌地不敢上前，他们徒自叹着气而已。世上哪有这样的臣子，能有木兰这样的气节情操，忠孝两全，千古的英名哪里能够泯灭？

少修谨，敏于学行。初任白马尉。探访使韦陟深器之，奏充支使。累迁苏州刺史，浙江西道团练观察等使。大历初，（公元七六六年）徵拜尚书右丞。出为淮南节度使，凡三年，以疾卒于位。今存之木兰歌，相传为元甫得自民间。他曾拟作一首，亦见乐府诗集及全唐诗中。
