译文
两种风格，都是大自然的杰作，雪花好似梅花的花瓣，仔细一看不是雪，因为雪无香气，风吧香气吹得四散。
虽然色彩一样，形状相似，但是有一个高出一等，雪花不像梅花薄。梅花开在空山，放射出光辉异形，雪花却在人家帘幕下低飞。
注释
风流：风度、标格。
一家制作：意指雪和梅都是大自然的产物。
萼：花萼，这里指的是花瓣（因押韵关系用“萼”字）。
细看不是雪无香：仔细一看，不是雪花，因为雪花没有香气。
着（zhāo）：等次。
薄（báo）：厚度小的。
散彩：放射出光彩。
帘：窗帷。最后两句说：梅花开在空山，放射出光辉异形，雪花却在人家帘幕下低飞。
踏莎行·雪中看梅花创作背景
早春时期，词人外出游玩，途中观赏到梅花的精致与雪花的灿烂，因而兴致大开。于是词人借物咏志，写下了这首词。
踏莎行·雪中看梅花鉴赏
这是一首咏物之词，运用了托物言志的手法。词一开篇，就是指点江山、直抒胸臆。与众不同的是，他不是只咏雪或只咏梅，而是花开两朵、两朵俱美。一会是一个平台上的比较，一会是各自舞台上的辉煌；既各有高低，又各有所长。从篇章角度分析，上下阕的结构是一致的：一二句，先立主旨、总领全段；三四五句，以鲜明意象，比较二者异同；把这异同的典型特征，完全袒露在作者笔下、袒露在读者眼前；其中的对比手法，恰好也照应了主旨。这样的结构意图，就是抓住雪与梅的同与不同：上阕的“全似”，下阕的“不似”，这就全面的比较了两种风流。
从段落到全篇，这首词大体可以分出起承转合的结构特征。起：两种风流，一家制作。承：雪花全似梅花萼。细看不是雪无香，天风吹得香零落。转：虽是一般，惟高一着。合：雪花不似梅花薄。梅花散彩向空山，雪花随意穿帘幕。
具体看来，梅雪争春，同样风流，这就是不可避免的梅与雪的不同。不过，异中寻同，词人偏要说“雪花全似梅花萼”。这里，雪花与梅花同在雪花仿佛就是梅花的花瓣。是啊，梅花的美丽，在于不仅有形，而且有香。雪花有梅之形，于是就输了一段香
词人的智慧，就在于丰富的想象力。风流，像风一样流芳天下，因而是世间万物的最佳典范。作者在梅与雪的映衬中，明知雪花有弱点，但却把她的弱点，放在险恶的处境中，想象为是狂风夺去了雪花能与梅花媲美的资格，这是极其高明的想象力，正是这样的想象，既说明了“全似”中的真实距离，也说明了这确实情有可原。这既是替雪花找托词，又是进一步展示了梅花的风采。
这基础上，作者归纳说，雪梅的风流看似一样，但梅花其实更高一着。前面是雪花与梅花异中之同，这里是二者终有高下、毕竟不同的现实状态。“雪花不似梅花薄”，一个“薄”字，意味深长。按古代汉语，薄通泊，淡薄即淡泊，这是一解；另一解则是薄的本义，薄即草木丛生。是啊，雪是水气的精华，而梅花是草木的精华、百花的精华、生命的精华，不愧是花中之花。所以，雪花的“不似”，表现了略逊一筹。是啊，梅花把自己的生命、把生命的色彩，装点向草木凋零、万花俱谢的雪山；雪花虽无生命，却依然善解人意的飞向人们的身边。
这就是词人最重要的比较。两种美丽的花朵，一是梅花，她挑战着寒冷的世界，以自身的豪气，呼唤着天地中生命的色彩、呼唤着天地中美丽的春天，也呼唤着天地中美丽的百花；另一是雪花，她把单调的冬天变成飞花溅玉的世界，这就是异中有同。那雪与梅各展所长，只要都是一流，又何必在意第一第二呢。这就是美丽的雪花，不卑不亢，绝无对梅花的嫉妒，只有与梅花的互补。即使不得第一，绝不与第一对立。这就是雪花，甘做背景、甘做配角，恬淡中显示雪花的美丽。
可见，词中梅雪并举，映衬之妙、拟人之巧、想象之高，就让梅与雪刚柔相济、共迎春光。其中那个“薄”字，引出了太多的争议：其一，薄字取贬义时，即意指雪花比梅花更薄一点。其二，用作褒义时，作为和严冬战斗的宠儿，怎么能比雪花更厚呢？然而词人不会取“薄”字的贬义，因为那与词人笔下的“风流”形象太不相称。用一个不恰当的比喻，武松打虎，不能是武松打猫，贬低斗严冬的“战友”，实际就是贬低自己。因此薄字在此词为第二种说法，这也就是把“薄”理解成褒义的最好依据。

王旭（生卒年不详，约公元1264年前后在世），字景初，东平（今属山东）人。以文章知名于时，与同郡王构、永年王磐并称“三王”。早年家贫，靠教书为生。主要活动于至元到大德年间。有《兰轩集》二十卷，原本已不传。清乾隆年间修《四库全书》，曾从《永乐大典》中辑出王旭诗文若干篇，重编为《兰轩集》十六卷，其中诗九卷，文七卷。与王构、王磐相比，王旭处境最不好，诗文中往往流露出怀才不遇情绪，《古风三十首》集中表达了对人生的感慨。生平事迹见《大明一统志》卷二三、《元诗选·癸集》乙集小传、《元书》卷五八。
