释善昭，太原（今属山西）人，俗姓俞。为首山念禅师法嗣，南岳下九世，住汾州太子院。仁宗天圣初卒，年七十八（《禅林僧宝传》卷三，《佛祖通载》作天圣二年甲子卒，《五灯全书》作真宗乾兴元年壬戌卒）。事见《五灯会元》卷一一、《补续高僧传》卷六。今录颂、偈、诀六首。
