译文
武牢激战数月，震坏河朔建德。
窦王狼狈为奸，图谋夹击作孽。
二逆乳臭未干，竟欲摇撼山岳。
小草刚冒新芽，不堪霜雹霰雪。
秦王运筹帷幄，待机一举歼灭。
张网削除敌顽，生擒窦王二贼。
敌顽闻风丧胆，秦王拓宽疆界。
上天意旨不清，胜负刀兵判决。
有德之君即位，先觉启迪后觉。
注释
武牢：县名，故城在今河南汜水县。公元620年（唐武德三年）旧历七月，秦王李世民奉诏讨王世充，次年二月，窦建德率兵救世充，三月，秦王入武牢，进其营，多所杀伤。五月，秦王大破建德军，擒建德，王世充遂率其将吏至军门降唐。
河朔：黄河以北，当时为窦建德所据之地。
逆：指王世充、窦建德。掎（jĭ）角：此处指分兵牵制，夹击之意。
鷇（kòu）：待哺食的小鸟。麛（mí）：幼鹿，泛指小兽。乔岳：高大的山岳，指泰山。
翘（qiáo）：抬起（头），引申为植物刚破土而出。牙：同“芽”。
申：施展。
芟（shān）夷：削除。二主：指王世充、窦建德。
华戎：华，我国古称华夏，省称华。戎：指军队。“华戎”指秦王李世民所率之军队。廓：扩大，开拓。封略：即封疆，疆界也。
命：天命，天神的意旨。瞢（méng萌）：本义不明，这里指昏暗不清。毕：完毕，结束。斮（zhuó茁）：斩。
归有德：（天下）终将归于有德之人。唯先觉：唯有先觉之人能启迪后觉之人。

柳宗元（773年－819年），字子厚，唐代河东（今山西运城）人，杰出诗人、哲学家、儒学家乃至成就卓著的政治家，唐宋八大家之一。著名作品有《永州八记》等六百多篇文章，经后人辑为三十卷，名为《柳河东集》。因为他是河东人，人称柳河东，又因终于柳州刺史任上，又称柳柳州。柳宗元与韩愈同为中唐古文运动的领导人物，并称“韩柳”。在中国文化史上，其诗、文成就均极为杰出，可谓一时难分轩轾。
